Harchibald (main pic) prepares for the Champion Hurdle with a spin round the all-weather at Dundalk.
The race is run over a mile and a half and old foe Al Eile is also in the line-up - with Declan McDonogh aboard we expect Harchibald to win the race.
To be honest I still think Harchibald will run a big race come March 11th in the Champion Hurdle and only a mug would rule him out.

MILLWALL (5/4) have got their act together at home and can claim three more vital points at home to Bristol Rovers. We have to wait to Monday if we are to be on a sweat for the PG Quad and we have gone for NOTTINGHAM FOREST (4/5) to beat Carlisle in the live game.
£81 back for a fiver

You would be forgiven for mistaking the 9.10 at Dundalk tonight as a NH race!! The majority of the runners hail from jumps yards. Charlie Swan, Tom McCourt, Noel Meade, Franny Crowley and Martin Brassil all have runners. I think Harchibald has a great chance tonight but Gerard, I must be that mug you were talking about because there is no chance in a million years of Harchibald winning the Champion Hurdle. The only way he'll win it in my opinion is if he and another horse are well clear at the last and the other horse falls!! Harchibald is a bottler as he proved in the CH a few years ago and against Sttraw Bear at Kempton on Boxing day. I've looked at his record and there are so many 2nd's and 3rd's and they outweigh the 1st's. The horse has a bundle of talent but he just won't show it. I think if this horse had a bit of courage it would have won 2 or 3 Champion Hurdles but the fact is he doesn't. If I were a bookie on CH day I would be laying him all day!!
Todays selections...............
NAP - ALAQHIRAAR 2.10 @ Newbury
Ran a great debut 3rd behind Crackaway Jack and Squadran and can get his head in front today. Will want a decent pace though.
NB - THE VICAR 2.40 @ Newbury
A good 3rd on his hurdles debut but never really improved on that 2 runs since, although they were all over 2m and he has been crying out for this 2m 5f trip. Some good horses in this race though.
TREBLE - SPACE COWBOY 2.30 @ Donny
This is a good handicap chase with a small field and none of the runners can be easily excluded. Space Cowboy ran a good race last time though when 2nd to Fabulous Jet and can go one better today.
Just don't discount him - I still like the way he won the Fighting Fifth at Newcastle with Al Eile and Katchit easily beaten. You're absolutely right, if this horse had a wee bit of courage he would have won a few Champion Hurdles.
But it's interesting that you say
'The only way he'll win it in my opinion is if he and another horse are well clear at the last and the other horse falls' what horse is it Yid that you fancy? You fancy Harchibald to be second?
backed the two golfers each way this blog mentioned yesterday. Two each way singles and an each way double.jeev mika singh whom i have never heard off is second at the minute.Got him at 40/1.who is this golfer and why have we never heard of him.someone must have inside info or too much time on their hands but a fancy is a fancy.leonard is sitting ok in top 20 odd i think also.

Gerard,
My fancy for the Champion Hurdle? It has to be SUBLIMITY! He ran a good comeback race when 4th behind Osana, Katchit and Penzance at Cheltenham and he will go straight to the CH. I think he is the one to beat. Harchibald, in my opinion, won't be in the first 3!
Entries for the final four of the 25 contests for the Cheltenham Festival have been revealed and they include the entries for the new Grade Two David Nicholson Mares Hurdle on Friday 14 March.
There are a total of 31 entries in the extended two and a half mile contest including the Bowe family's new star Sweet Kiln and a powerful quintet from Nicky Henderson's stable - Amaretto Rose, Chomba Womba, Shatabdi, My Petra and Doubly Guest.
Irish-trained raiders have won 12 of the 15 runnings of the Weatherbys Champion Bumper and account for 19 of the 47 entries this year including Zaarito, trained by Colm Murphy, while Willie Mullins, who has saddled five previous winners, has four entered including Apt Approach, an impressive winner at Gowran Park on February 16, and Lilywhitedancer.
The home team includes the David Pipe-trained Big Eared Fran, who was sold after winning his only start for trainer Tor Sturgis, and Gold Award, who looks set to be the Queen's first ever Festival runner (see below).
The four-mile Peter O'Sullevan National Hunt Chase has a new title this year to celebrate the 90th birthday of 'The Voice Of Racing.' There are 56 entries, including 18 from Ireland while the Christie's Foxhunter Chase has 43 entered including last year's victor Drombeag and 10 from Ireland, among them the rapidly improving Agus A Vic.
yid army-if only i had have had your number last night.a big tip was going around last night in the red devil.everyone had it backed but the bookies ran out of money so its back today with our wheel barrow to collect.
9.20 kempton.kings ransom.came home at 8/1.It was phoned in from a few regulars on the course about 10 minutes from the off and the word spread like wildfire.
thats the cheltenham money up but a bad hangover today in work.

I'm very close to the Noel Meade yard in fact it's a five minute drive. To rule Harchibald out of the first is bordering on insanity. He will thereabouts coming over the last and is a more mature horse this year.
He is working like an absolute dream at the minute and just watch the Meade stable go in the next few weeks.
JIMBOB
JIMBOB
More mature horse now??
He looked the same horse to me on Boxing day. Here's the official outcome of his race with Straw Bear....
"held up, smooth headway after 3 out, joined winner next, led narrowly last, soon ridden, headed near finish"
Typical Harchibald, travels like he is about to win by a distance but when he's asked to pass he just doesn't go through with it!
It's only my opinion mate but the facts are there and anyone who has big money on him is insane if they look at his form figures!!
Ginger
Well done. 50p on an 8/1 gets you £4! Where you using an Action Man wheelbarrow to collect your winnings??
Only joking. Anyone who takes money of a bookie deserves it!!
Yid - this is the same time the Meade horses started to go wrong - or did you forget about that?
JIMBOB
I'm off to Dundalk! any whispers, I'll BLOG ON!

Come on, the horse has been like this for ages. He's a very talented horse but 9 times out of 10 he hasn't got the courage to pass a horse when required. I wouldn't have a penny on him.
Aren't you the same guy that had a go at me for tipping up JERED of Noel Meade's sayiny that his horses were wrong yet they went and won the first 2 or 3 on the card!!
I'll stick to my own wopinion thanks and we'll discuss it after the race!!
yid...lets just say i have booked a half day today and the cheltenham week off.£100 on an 8/1 does alright.

Nice one. Although, if I were you I would do 2 things. First of all I'd kill myself for being you!! Ha Ha
No seriously, I would take £400 out for Cheltenham and keep the other monkey for yourself. No point in having £100 on a tip and then giving it back which is more than likely what will happen cuz Cheltenham throws up some nasty results.
Or, you could just have the £900 on Kauto Star @ 5/4 to make an easy £2025!!
im for london tomorrow, craven cottage in fact to see the champions so the dosh will be well spent plus the £500 will be stored under the matress for chelt!

Spurs aren't at Craven Cottage tomorrow, their at St. Andrews!!
I've been to Craven Cottage once before, the ground is right on the banks of the Thames. If the ball is hoofed out of the stadium (good chance of that happening if Michael Carrick hits a shot from long range) it could end up in the drink!!
Ok, I mentioned yesterday that I had a maximum bet lined up for a horse who is running at Nebury tomorrow. As I said this is not a tip but I have followed this horse all season and it has won it's first 3 chase races very well and I have been really impressed by him. His first 3 races obviously were in novice company but he now takes the step up to take on experienced chasers such as Ollie Magern, Oneway, Natal, and Kalca Mome. The trainer semms to think that the handicapper has been a bit harsh rating him 140 but she's hoping for a big run.
The horse in question is called NEVERTIKA and he runs in the 3.15 at Newbury tomorrow. It should be around 6/1 at least and I will be having a few quid on him as from what I've seen of him this season so far he is a real good chaser in the making. Also, the softer the ground the better so any rain tomorrow will be welcomed!!
Yid,is this the Carrick that was Spurs best player(why else was he sold by the selling club)Spurs and leeds are known to be one of utds feeder clubs you know, because all their best players end up playing for the mighty utd. There is a good chance of a few balls going into the river because The Premier League champs will be bombarding the goal tomorrow.get on rooney to score first goal(if he is playing) and utd to stroll to an easy 3-0 win.
Micky Ginge
you have to take saha to score against his old club tomorrow.fergie will throw him a start tomorrow no doubt and save the big guns for the champions league.
mccaff
Paul Scholes must be a decent bet, not sure he'll start though!
hope he does not start yid.while a big fan of scholes down the years utds bad games lately have came when he has started.either he is not fit or is reaching the end of his career.
utd have been playing better with carrick, hargreaves and anderson and i think this might be the end of giggs thi season.young nani has been playing well the last lot of games.
I remember when Henry was at his peak for the Gunners and Larsson was at his peak for Celtic, the bet of the weekend was doing them two in a first goalscorer double. Somebody worked it out over a season and for a £5 stake every week you would have been up a few hundred at the end of the season.
I think the same might apply this season if you do RONALDO and SCOTT MACDONALD in a double. The two of them are scoring for fun. You could even stick ADEBAYOR in for a treble or do doubles and trebles.
done this bet for years and made a few grand profit out of it.

Gerard,
ONE NIGHT IN PARIS should never be 4/6!! If Jamie Spencer wasn't on this horse it would probably be about 9/4. It was beat last time out (in a better race) when finishing one paced over 1m so WHY has is been dropped back a furlong???
I think this will be the one to beat both specials with NORTHERN DESERT perhaps the one to take the race!
I can guess what kind of a day it is going to be!!
First 3 home in Newbury's 2.10...
20/1

HARCHIBALD was very impressive last night at Dundalk but I still stick to what I said yesterday. Let's not get carried away, yesterdays race was on the all weather at Dundalk in a race worth just over £7k. There's no doubt it will bring Harchibald on but he still has to convince me that he can cut it on the day in the big one.
A word of advice though to any one who is going to back Harchibald ante-post for the CH , stay away from the Irish bookies. Paddy Power and a few other bookies cut him from 8/1 into 11/2 after last nights win which is ridiculous. Most English firms left him at 8's which seems to be the sensible move.
Jimbob 3 out of 4 winners at Dundalk Friday night - great stuff
keep us posted this week with Irish bets for Cheltenham...
